The 76th Assembly District of California is currently represented by Assemblymember Lori Saldana, who will be termed out in 2010.
Location: The 76th is located entirely within the City of San Diego. It includes the communities of Clairemont, Bay Park, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, Tierra Santa, Serra Mesa, Hillcrest, University Heights, North Park, South Park, Linda Vista, Mission Valley, City Heights, Old Town, Normal Heights, Mission Hills and Downtown San Diego. Voters: Current voter registration numbers show 245,806 voters in the 76th. They include:
Democrats --102,850 (42%)
Republicans-- 65,812 (27%)
Decline to State (DTS)--64,554 (26%)
